Jasna Rokegem adventures abroad as global entrepreneur at @GES2017.
One month before we headed to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 in Hyderabad, members of the US Embassy in Brussels came to visit us at Start It @KBC. We gave them an exclusive tour with FashionTech demonstrations, we planned an intimate press conference and we made sure that Jasna Rokegem was ready to rock the #GES2017.
Being named Global Entrepreneur at just 24 years old and getting the chance to represent Belgium at the world’s biggest entrepreneurship conference in India… sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? GES2017 was Jasna’s biggest adventure of 2017: “In three days, I met some brilliant minds and charismatic people”, she says. “I networked like crazy, attended workshops, lectures, receptions and exclusive dinner shows. I learned a lot, it was a great opportunity for me to hear, discover and learn about the key entrepreneurial challenges, trends and transformations in different parts of the world – for women in particular. All of those experiences shared the same message: women first, prosperity for all.”
Jasna looks back on a unforgettable and inspirational trip. “During those three days, I had talks and brainstorm sessions on the most incredible ideas to improve our future. I was able to inspire and share my knowledge and experiences with others, to think about our future. I even made it to the cover of The Times of India! Unfortunately, three days was way too short to have a talk with all those masterminds. GES2017 certainly is a milestone in my career as a pioneer in the FashionTech industry and all those other branches we can connect to. The summit gave me even more energy to introduce FashionTech to entrepreneurs, companies, dream chasers and people around the world.”
So how do you get the most out of a big international summit like GES2017? Jasna has some tips she would love to share!
- Create your own local network. Try to take someone with you, an investor buddy who does your promotions. He or she can do some PR in advance. It’s a great way to efficiently expand your network.
- Have your personal assistant send an e-mail to all the business cards you collected. It’s crucial to follow up on all the personal meetings you had at the conference. If you wait too long to get in touch, the momentum of your brief encounter will be over and the opportunity is lost. Sending a message right away, shows your enthusiasm and perseverance.
- Have a meeting on the last day, and ditch the remaining talks!
Her adventure at the The Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Hyderabad will have a huge impact on Jasna’s future career. Want to know when and how ? Just keep on following us on social media, and stay up-to-date.
