Koenraad Keignaert is a lecturer at the Faculty of Design Sciences at the University of Antwerp. He’s obsessed with Product Development and therefore the perfect mentor for startups. Let’s ask him a few questions…
Prof. Keignaert, I’m wondering, who inspires you?
Well, I’m truly inspired by Lode Uytterschaut and Katrien Dewijngaert, Founder and Co-Founder of Start it @kbc. They achieved something admirable. It’s amazing how they’ve managed to motivate so many people to become entrepreneurs. In 2016, more than 445 startups became a part of the Start it @kbc community. And this is just the beginning…
What’s your biggest tip for startups?
Ask yourself: ‘Do I need to become an entrepreneur?’ The moment you’re asking yourself the question … It’s time to do so. If you can dream it, you can do it! Got an innovative idea, but need space and support for your team to work on it? Apply for Start it @kbc!
Why should every startup join Start it @kbc?
Well, that’s easy! I mean, you can consult the best experts and mentors. It’s almost as if they’re your direct colleagues. And the best part? It’s for free! However, I believe there is no such thing as a free lunch. It’s for free but it’s no free lunch. Startups are taken accountable for their progress and their engagement in the community. To conclude: you shouldn’t miss out on it!
What’s the craziest thing Start it @kbc has brought you?
It helped me to get a fresh look at some of my viewpoints on research questions. That’s fairly crazy for an academic (laughs).
